School Resource Officer

A school resource officer is almost always a police officer or sheriff's deputy assigned to a particular school. SROs typically work for their parent police agencies, with schools being their assigned beat. In many schools, SROs partner with guidance counselors in an effort to improve student grades and attendance. Juvenile delinquency, or crime, and truancy are always concerns, and SROs work to help to reduce its occurrence through early intervention activities in the schools.
