Nearly three dozen members of the sheriff’s office, retired officers and friends gathered at the New Carlisle Cemetery Thursday morning to honor La Porte County Patrolman Neil Thompson. Patrolman Thompson was tragically killed in the line of duty on September 21, 1980. It has become a tradition to meet at Neil’s grave site, offer a prayer and share memories of what an outstanding policeman Neil was and how well liked he was. Lots of wonderful memories were shared and funny stories were told as those gathered laughed and shed a few tears. It is our mission to never forget the sacrifice made by Patrolman Thompson while protecting La Porte County’s citizens.  #LoD #neverforget
