The La Porte County Sheriff's Office is responsible for
investigating crimes occurring in the areas of La Porte
County, Indiana. Your options for reporting a crime are:
Dial 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency. Dial 219-326-7700
Ext-2210 to make a non-emergency report over the phone. You
can also make a report directly at the La Porte County
Sheriff's Office.

Information and Notification Everyday
Indiana VINE system is a service through which victims of
crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for
information regarding the custody status of their offender
and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notification
when the offender’s custody status changes. The VINE
toll-free number for the Indiana VINE system is
1-866-959-VINE (866-959-8463). This service is provided to
assist Victims of Crime who have a right to know about their
offender's custody status.

community notification tool with hundreds of leading
agencies in dozens of states utilizing it. LaPorte County's
law enforcement utilizes OffenderWatch to manage and monitor
the whereabouts, conduct and compliance status of the
registered offenders in LaPorte County. OffenderWatch
provides the most accurate and timely information available
and now this information is available to you!
Handgun Permit
Information
Mon.-Fri.
8am-3:30 pm. Please remember that you must keep the
information number that you are given when you finish the
Handgun permit online application process. You also still
need to come to the Sheriff's office front desk with that
information number, your exact cash only fees, your photo
identification, and receipt from your electronic fingerprints. State Fees and

Medication Disposal
The drop box is located at the front desk/lobby of the Sheriff's
Department, which is open and available to the public 24 hours a
day. Please empty pills into a zip lock bag No
containers, needles, or inhalers. The prescription drop
box is for the disposal of unused or out-of-date prescription or
over-the-counter medication Animal medication is okay.
This is not for inmate medication drop off.
