PATROL DIVISION

The Patrol Division of the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of deputies who are trained and certified police officers through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Training Board. Deputies enforce Indiana criminal law and traffic laws, along with enforcing La Porte County ordinances. From time to time, deputies are also asked to assist the Civil Division with civil process matters.

The Patrol Division is part of the Merit Division within the agency, the Merit Division is broken down into several more divisions. The Patrol Division provides regular patrols to the unincorporated areas of La Porte County. The county consists of 613 square miles and an average population of 112,417 residents. These dedicated men and women work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year investigating crimes, responding to emergencies, and pro-actively implementing patrols to protect the citizens of La Porte County. They take pride in serving the public needs in a caring, courteous, and professional manner to ensure the highest quality of life for all people.
